Local Policies for St Brelade
Local Planning Issues in St Brelade have changed since 2018 but other application sites raise issues for residents in 2026. The Wayside development in St Brelades Bay was well controlled and resulted in a great improvement, the character of this important site has been retained , the historic tower conserved and producing a viable and successful hospitality venue . An example of our planning system working successfully.
The controversy over La Pulente urgently needs a solution The loss of the public toilet could be resolved similar to the Greve de Lecq acquisition enabling a benign use of the structure consistent with the sites shore line location in the Coastal National Park. Residential use is entirely contrary to the Island Plan.
There is a strong need for improved cycling infrastructure .I am concerned about the safety of pedestrians and cyclists at the top end of Mont lee Vaux .
Greater States resources should be made available to support the ever growing need of local youth work . For families with children the Elephant park is a wonderful facility and the project to improve the facilities should be even further extended .
Our Honarary Police deserve even more support for the fantastic work they do in policing our community and visitor economy . We need to help them to deal more effectively with the speeding late night racers who cause disturbance.,
The Parish should provide over 55’s downsizing homes releasing family homes .There is at least one zoned site in the parish which has lain idle .
The West of the Island Planning Framework agreed in the Island Plan MUST be carried out to facilitate and manage necessary development , preventing damaging ad-hoc development.
