After months of preparation for an election , at last nights nomination meeting unexpectedly there were no other nominations for Deputy of District No 1 St Brelade, I was declared elected. I want to thank my proposer and seconders and all those constituents who have encouraged me to stand in this election. I am still surprised to be unopposed, especially when so many other seats are strongly contested. It is both an honour to receive such support and a little disappointing as a long standing critic of Jersey’s Electoral system as needing reform. But I will now get on with the job and do my very best to fulfil the confidence shown in me.
